Prafulla Chandra Pal Educational Fundposted on 17 March 2010 | posted in Calcutta Rescue Fund![]() Most of the work we all do for patient and doctor kind is often dedicated to my father Mr Prafulla Chandra Pal who was a surgeon in the National Health Service. See enclosed picture. He actually served the poorest in Africa, working as a surgeon in West Africa and Central Africa. Following a brain infection in 1982, he was sadly cognitively disabled and never returned to work. He sadly died at Papworth NHS Trust after a gruelling few weeks of negligence. He was essentially found dead in a side room. The nursing staff had stated that they didn't think he was dead because the monitor showed the pacemaker was still ticking. There was a significant delay in treating his pneumonia. Despite coughing up green sputum and drowning in lung fluid, the doctors there denied he had an infection. When they finally did his blood count, the infection was high and the MRSA tests were positive. Had they bothered to treat him, he would have made a full recovery. The hospital refused to do a blood culture thereby omitting the MRSA from his death certificate. This means he was never part of the MRSA statistics. Anyhow, in his memory the Prafulla Chandra Pal Educational Fund with Calcutta Rescue Fund was set up. It educates the very poor in Calcutta India. Anyone can donate to it through Calcutta Rescue Fund" to PO box 16163, Clapham, London SW4 7ZT citing the Prafulla Chandra Pal Educational Fund". http://www.calcuttarescue.org.uk/Calcutta_Rescue_Fund/CR30.html I hope everyone will donate £1 or more to the above fund for the work done in his name. The finances goes towards a good cause and serves to educate the poorest in Calcutta. Thankyou Rita Pal -- Share this blog entry:
