NHS STH Mistakes/FailingsPersonal Stories of Medical Mistakes, Errors, Failings and Blunders made by the Sheffield NHS Teaching Hospital Foundation Trust under the Leadership of Sir Andrew Cash OBE. See below this Introduction:Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has been in Court many times for mistakes, errors, failings and blunders! The NHS is failing it's user's - you and me that pay for it! Between April 2008 and March 2009 Sheffield Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust paid out £6,054,679 in NHS Compensation Claims. Just WHAT MISTAKES, ERRORS, FAILINGS OR BLUNDERS made these compensation claims against the Sheffield Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust 'possible'? In the case of Thomas Milner we were told by our legal representatives that any claim made against the Palliative Care Department of the NHS Northern General Hosptial, Sheffield would not be worth pursuing. The reason for this is that Thomas Milner was 76, he had a terminal illness and was going to die. And because everything to do with an NHS Complaint has to have a monetary value put on it, Thomas Milner's story of 'poor nursing care and inadequate terminal medication' was valued at £1500.00. Our legal costs would have been in the £1000's. We have already spent more than £2,500,00 trying to get some answers to some simple questions about the 'care and medication' that was given to Thomas Milner. We still have NOT had any answers! See homepage for LATEST NEWS about this case. ....... The extract below is taken from an Independent article about various NHS medical mistakes. 'In Sheffield, NHS health chiefs have apologised to parents after 30 children were given injections of sterile water instead of a TB vaccine. NHS Nurses carried out the routine jab on 57 children at Dore Junior School but the mistake was only discovered when a check showed that only half the vaccine had been used. The NHS team had accidentally filled half the syringes with water, used to clean them. The injections will be done again'. ....... |
