Will & Diane Powell have lived each day for the past 20 years knowing just how corrupt the NHS and its complaints system is! In 1999 they were presented with a 'Freedom of Information Award' by Jack Straw the then Home Secretary for their for their work in the fight against official secrecy! In Robbie Powell's case (1990), the senior medical secretary at the health centre was asked to type a referral letter to the NHS Hospital AFTER Robbie's death on the instructions of the GP. After doing so the secretary back-dated the letter to five days BEFORE Robbie's death!!! The consultation notes in Robbie's NHS GP medical records regarding the day the child died were not written by the NHS GP until several weeks after the child's death but were initially claimed to have been written contemporaneously. This was established by forensic examination of the notes in 2001 and the NHS GP subsequently admitted this impropriety when formally interviewed under caution by the police. The consultation notes were actually entered into the medical records after the GPs received my formal letter of complaint from the NHS health authority when, by statute, the original GP records should have been in the safe possession of the health authority. The GP's version of the events on that fateful day were fabricated untruths. However, because the consultation notes were purported to be contemporaneous, the Medical Services Committee that dealt with my complaint in December 1990, accepted the GP's version of events, as the fabricated consultation notes supported her evidence. 'A newly qualified Dr. prescribed the antibiotic Trimethoprim for me. I have a rare cardiac condition called the Long QT corrected at 489 ms. This condition is very dangerous and the patient is not allowed to have certain drugs including Trimethoprim as it can send the heart in a dangeously fast rhythym and then have sudden cardiac arrest. Not knowing the implications at the time I had ONE tablet and my heart rate normally 58 to 60 shot up to 145. The nurse refused to notify the Dr. but I advised her that if I died she would have to be a witness at an Inquest, then and only then did she get medical help. The Medical Director took it upon himself to come down to A & E personally to rip the oxygen mask off my face when I was suffering excruciating chest pain and ordered me off the premises when I was still in acute pain.
