NHS Complaint Procedure

The NHS Complaints Procedure is bogus. The Office of Nigel Farage UKIP-MEP says:"there is a plethora of advisory bodies set up simply to waste your time" and the final stage, the Ombudsman "is slow, biased in the Trusts favour and conditional upon no legal action being taken!"

Beware of the NHS Complaints procedure - our comments from our experience.

The NHS Complaints Proceedure is carefully set out by the NHS!

Our UKIP-MEP Nigel Farage says 'there is a plethora of advisory bodies in place simply to waste your time'.

Ms. Anna MacDonald of Battersea says: "beware of a hospital's Patient Liaison Dept. They exist only to tease out and appraise what you're about and how far you might take a concern. Usually very friendly women are employed, with a natural charm and - one thinks - sympathy for you".

Jeremy Laurance, respected Health Editor of the Independant wrote:
'A "CULTURE of blame" in the NHS caused doctors to close ranks against patients when things went wrong and withhold information'.

BUT there are a lot of things you are not told by the various departments in the NHS Complaints heirachy when you are trying to get to the Truth of a medical blunder or error.

If you have had a bad experience and want to complain. Apply for the medical notes and these, under the Data Protection Act and FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) should be supplied within 40 days. Also make sure you request the DDA (Dangerous Drugs Act Booklet), the Drug Chart and ALL appropriate documents relating to you or your relative. These will be photocopies.
MAKE SURE YOU THEN VISIT THE PLACE WHERE THE ACTUAL NOTES ARE KEPT TO CHECK FOR DISCREPANCIES AND ASK THAT ANY OTHER INFORMATION THAT IS STORED ELECTRONICALLY BE DOWNLOADED INTO HARD COPIES.

The Sheffield NHS Teaching Hospital Trust says 'If we get something wrong, we will do our best to make amends'.
It is our policy that when mistakes are made we admit them and offer a full apology.
